kode_c
left-field pop / electroacoustic noise
kode_c is a Copenhagen-based duo working at the intersection of electroacoustic noise and left-field pop. Formed in 2025 by visual artist Ingerlise Oellgaard and composer/producer Martin Messell, the project grew out of years of shared improvised shows, A/V collaborations and a mutual attraction to each other's artistic practice. Their forthcoming self-released debut EP no one is here (2026) compiles a series of post-processed live recordings - melodic, chant-like vocal fragments and fragile, imperfect collages built from samplers, acoustic instruments and a healthy dose of chance. Their live shows incorporate visuals into the musical performance, with Ingerlise painting on a vintage overhead projector.
Left-field pop fragments drift through electroacoustic noise in the Copenhagen-based DIY duo kode_c. Formed in 2025 by visual artist Ingerlise Oellgaard and composer and producer Martin Messell, the project grew out of years of shared improvised shows, A/V collaborations and a mutual attraction to each other's artistic practice.
Their music sits somewhere between electroacoustic noise and left-field pop — organic, eerie, patient, desperate, sometimes catchy. Collages built from samplers, acoustic instruments, live electronics and a healthy dose of chance, gather and dissolve around Ingerlise's melodic, chant-like vocal lines. The influences come from the quieter end of experimental electronics and electroacoustic drone music, and the uglier end of song-writing — music that holds incompleteness as a method rather than a flaw, and that is not too concerned with time passing.
Their debut EP no one is here was composed in preparation for a festival performance in the summer of 2025. Built from post-processed live recordings, it preserves the energy, vulnerability and happy accidents of a specific room and a specific mood.
Messell also releases solo work in the electroacoustic and noise space; his most recent album, Envelope Follower, appeared on Danish label Rhizome in 2024. Oellgaard works in film, photography and painting. During live performances, she paints on a vintage overhead projector, her marks layered with digital visuals while the sound evolves around her.
